Drypoint Etching Workshop

$90 - $110 | Lynn Scott-Cumming
Drypoint Etching Workshop

Example of drypoint etching by Lynn Scott Cumming. Image courtesy of the artist.

Join local artist Lynn Scott-Cumming in The Studio to create an edition of drypoint prints. Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique in which an image is scratched with a sharp tool, or otherwise incised onto a plate. The scratched areas of the plate hold the ink that is then printed. Lynn will demonstrate how to use etching tools to engrave an image onto a 12 x 12cm acetate sheet and assist participants to use Umbrella’s etching press to produce a set of prints on quality printmaking paper. The workshop offers an introduction to the drypoint process and provides the perfect opportunity to create artworks for Compact Prints.

Attendees are asked to bring sketches or reference images to work from. All materials and equipment are provided, including aprons. No prior experience is required.
