Bespoke Events

Looking for a bespoke creative event for your special occasion? Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts can cater for your hens party, birthday party, Christmas party or other occasion with an art workshop or life-drawing session.  Life Drawing Hens Parties at Umbrella are a fun and respectful way to engage partygoers with art and craft activities while working with a helpful and artistically-trained instructor and male model (who is easy on the eyes!). Create memories and artworks to take home and keep – you might even discover that one of your party or ladies is an artist with hidden talent! We consistently receive great feedback from our parties, as we love to share our enthusiasm with others! Book early to ensure availability of the gallery, model, and instructor.

Umbrella is conveniently located within walking distance to most hotels and businesses in the Townsville CBD and near the Townsville Bus Hub. Hens’ parties and life-drawing parties may be booked for evenings or weekend afternoons to guarantee privacy, while regular art workshops or classes may be booked in The Studio during the gallery’s regular opening hours (Tues-Fri 9am-5pm | Sat-Sun 9am-1pm), pending availability. Organisers and attendees must consider public access to the exhibitions on display (if during the gallery’s opening hours) and must ensure due care is taken around the artworks on display.

See also our Venue Hire page for other function options at Umbrella.

Umbrella’s Life Drawing package for 2 – 2.5hrs includes:
– A creative environment with artworks on display (if the party / workshop is booked for an exhibition period)
– Trained life drawing facilitator to inspire and instruct
– Male life drawing model (nude or otherwise depending on the booking preference)
– All art materials: easels, easel boards, paper, charcoal and pens / pencils
– Access to limited kitchenette (including fridge for food and drinks)
– Access to chairs and fold-up tables if requested
– Completed drawings to take home

The booking organisers are responsible for:
 BYO food & beverages
– Cups, glasses – anything else required for eating & drinking
– Decorations
– Music (this includes speakers)

Other art workshops and classes can be negotiated in, with prices dependent on your wants and needs. Umbrella has a large membership base of artists to draw from to run art workshops that you are interested in. Contact us early to work with you on a package or to offer suggestions.
