Umbrella is hosting Vipoo Srivilasa’s Express Yourself: Art Activity Pop Up to coincide with the artist’s Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) Children’s Art Centre exhibition. The activities encourage visitors to consider the spectrum of human emotion with curiosity and an open mind. Emotions will be explored through dancing, drawing and digital media, enabling participants to create works that express thoughts, ideas and feeling.
These free, self-guided children's activities are recommended for ages 5-14 and anyone young at heart. Children must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
Sunday 19 April event
Please note there will be a music event in Umbrella's gallery space in conjunction with the Living Archive installation, including set up and sound check prior to the 10:30am event. There will be increased noise in the gallery space throughout Umbrella's open hours. Families wishing to participate in Express Yourself may prefer to attend earlier in the day, or on an alternative date, depending on needs and preferences. See here for more details.
Closures
Umbrella will be closed for the Easter weekend Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April inclusive, and Saturday 25 April for the Anzac Day public holiday.
Vipoo Srivilasa is a Thai-born, Naarm / Melbourne-based ceramic artist who is interested in installation and audience participation. Srivilasa likes to make work that is beautiful, fun and adds a smile to people’s faces. He often incorporates flowers and imaginary characters in his practice. Positivity, beauty and accessibility are important elements of his work, and he is particularly known for creating ceramic characters covered in flowers, called ‘flower bears’.

Vipoo Srivilasa’s Express Yourself: Art Activity Pop Up is a free QAGOMA Touring program available to regional Queensland communities.
