The Young Indigenous Printmakers program seeks to engage, foster and promote artistic and Cultural development for senior First Nations students. The free education initiative offers students the opportunity to learn and experience carving, printing and editioning lino in a two-day intensive workshop at their school and in The Studio at Umbrella. The program is facilitated by two artist mentors - a printmaking expert and a First Nations artist, Margaret Robertson and Ricky Emmerton respectively, for this year's program. The students’ resultant prints are exhibited in Umbrella’s gallery or at Townsville City Galleries once a semester.
The latest 2025 exhibition is on display at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery from 29 November 2025 - 3 May 2026.
Young Indigenous Printmakers is a collaborative outreach project run in partnership between Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts and Townsville City Galleries.
