‘Dance Brolga Dance’ – Reflections on Mundy Creek is a place-based audio walk created through collaboration by the Mundy Creek Collective, inviting audiences to experience Mundy Creek through stories, memories and connection to Country. 
 
The project brings together artists, Elders, cultural knowledge holders and community collaborators to share the stories, histories and living relationships that connect people with this landscape. As visitors walk the pathway beside the creek, they are guided by an immersive audio experience that reveals stories of ecology, culture, community and belonging, encouraging a deeper appreciation of the landscape around them. 
 
Developed through long-term collaboration and care for Country, the project celebrates Mundy Creek as a living place of cultural knowledge, environmental significance and shared community history. By combining storytelling, sound and place, ‘Dance Brolga Dance’ creates an accessible and reflective experience that invites people to slow down, listen closely and see familiar landscapes in new ways. 

About The Artist

The Mundy Creek Collective is a North Queensland-based group of artists, Elders, cultural knowledge holders and community collaborators who come together to share stories and care for Country through creativity, culture and connection. 

The collective has grown from more than a decade of creative collaboration and community-led environmental regeneration around Mundy Creek. Grounded in long-term relationships with each other and place, their work brings together art, storytelling, cultural knowledge and care for the natural world to celebrate the living connections between people and Country. 

The collective includes artists Bernadette Boscacci, Karen Doolan and Denise Weightman, alongside senior artists and Elders Billy Doolan and Russell Butler. For PUNQ, the collective is joined by Elderwomen Alanna Doolan and Donha Bobbert, and sound engineer Patty Preece to create ‘Dance Brolga Dance’ – Reflections on Mundy Creek, a place-based audio walk sharing the stories, memories and connections held within this special place. 
 
Through visual art, sound and storytelling, the Mundy Creek Collective creates experiences that invite people to listen, learn and connect with Country. Their work celebrates Mundy Creek as a place of ecological richness, cultural knowledge and community connection, encouraging greater understanding, appreciation and care for the places we share.
