Immerse yourself in PUNQ 2026 and plan your art adventure across North Queensland with our interactive PUNQ Art Trail Map.

The map brings together PUNQ projects and locations across Gurambilbarra / Townsville, Yunbenun / Magnetic Island, Warrgamay, Nywaigi & Bandjin Country / Hinchinbrook, and Gudjal Country / Charters Towers, helping you plan your journey between projects.

Here's how to use it:

  • Visit the PUNQ 2026 Art Trail Map: Open the interactive map.
  • Explore locations: Zoom in and out to discover PUNQ projects across the region.
  • Discover details: Select a program pin to find out more about the project and location.
  • Plan your itinerary: Group nearby projects together and consider travel times when planning your PUNQ experience.
  • Get directions: Select a program pin and click Directions to navigate from your current location using Google Maps.
  • Share the map: Planning PUNQ with friends? Share the Art Trail Map and create your itinerary together.

Yunbenun / Magnetic Island travel options

Yunbenun / Magnetic Island is easily accessible from Gurambilbarra / Townsville and can be explored by public transport, bike, car or as part of a PUNQ Bus Tour. If you're planning to visit several PUNQ projects on the island, allow plenty of time to travel between locations and enjoy Yunbenun along the way.

Get the ferry

SeaLink Magnetic Island passenger ferries operate regularly between Gurambilbarra / Townsville and Nelly Bay on Yunbenun / Magnetic Island, with the crossing taking approximately 20 minutes.

Check the current SeaLink ferry timetable before travelling.

If you're taking your own vehicle across, Magnetic Island Ferries operates the vehicle ferry between Townsville and Nelly Bay. We recommend booking your vehicle crossing ahead, particularly during busy periods.

Use the public bus system

The public bus service, Translink Route 250, is an easy way to travel between PUNQ locations across the island. The service connects the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal with Picnic Bay, Arcadia, Horseshoe Bay and stops along the way.

Use the Translink Journey Planner or check the Magnetic Island Route 250 timetable to plan your journey.

PUNQ locations on Yunbenun / Magnetic Island can be accessed using the public bus network, with the exception of The Mark by Jenny Mulcahy. If you're planning to visit The Mark, consider joining a PUNQ Bus Tour, hiring a car or bringing your own vehicle to the island.

We recommend using the PUNQ Art Trail Map alongside the Translink Journey Planner to plan your day and allow enough time between projects.

Explore by bike

Yunbenun / Magnetic Island is a great place to explore on two wheels. Magnetic Island Roaming, located at 106 Sooning Street in Nelly Bay, offers pedal-assist e-bikes for hire.

An e-bike gives you the flexibility to move between PUNQ projects while experiencing the island's beaches, villages and landscapes along the way. 

Keep in mind that some island routes are hilly and North Queensland conditions can be hot. Plan your route before setting out, carry plenty of water and allow enough travel time.

Hire a car or bring your own

Hiring a car on the island gives you the flexibility to build your own PUNQ itinerary and visit projects at your own pace. Car hire is available from a number of operators in Nelly Bay, close to the ferry terminal.

Alternatively, you can bring your own vehicle across with Magnetic Island Ferries.

A car or bike is particularly useful if you're planning to visit The Mark by Jenny Mulcahy, which is the only PUNQ location on Yunbenun / Magnetic Island that cannot be reached using the regular public bus service.
