Charters Towers Pottery Club

'Play with clay ~ discover hidden ceramic gems.'

Drop in to the Charters Towers Pottery Club to engage with history and view their artist members' diverse range of pottery. Functional wheel-thrown pottery and hand made sculptural ceramics will be showcased, including a retrospective exhibition of vessels made by members and visiting tutors. The pots were made over the last 40 years.

About the Artist

The Charters Towers Pottery Club was formed on Gudjal Country / Charters Towers almost 50 years ago. A group of people who had attended a short-lived night class at the local high school decided to form a pottery club. The club has been based at The School of Mines building in Hodgkinson St since its inception. The club has a well equipped studio with benches, tools, electric pottery wheels and electric kilns.
