Watch and participate in the artmaking process and engage with the diverse printmaking techniques of artist Erin Ricardo. Blue Print Studio showcases the artist's cyanotypes and relief prints, observations of the tropical North Queensland environment.

About the Artist

Erin Ricardo works primarily across relief and cyanotype printmaking. Since arriving in Townsville three years ago, the artist has been compelled to make images in response to the patterns, shapes, colours of the North Queensland landscape. Her recent work also depicts experiences of nature and observations of flora and fauna in the domestic environment.

Street Cyanotype Demonstrations - Erin Ricardo

Visitors are encouraged to watch printmaker Erin Ricardo demonstrate the process of cyanotype printing in the light-filled window space and street-front area of Blue Print Studio. The artist will make drawings, stencils and collages, to then be used for cyanotype prints.

Observe the process of relief printing as printmaker Erin Ricardo works on new linocut and woodcut prints. Visitors can watch designs being carved and printed, and hear about the artwork from the artist.

Use a selection of found objects to print patterns on paper in this short and fun drop-in workshop. Artist Erin Ricardo will guide participants to engage with textures and patterns.

Capture the beauty of natural, textured materials in this printmaking workshop with artist Erin Ricardo. Participants will use locally-found natural materials and objects to make cyanotype prints - a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue artwork.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own natural items (such as feathers and plant material), along with aprons or wear old clothes. All other materials will be provided.
