North Queensland Artists.
Natural and Built Worlds brings together six North Queensland artists whose practices explore the rich relationship between the region's landscapes, architecture and lived experience. Presented as a region-wide billboard exhibition, it transforms everyday public spaces into an open-air gallery, inviting audiences to encounter contemporary art beyond traditional exhibition walls.
Featuring works by Neil Binnie, Kathy Cornwall, Ron McBurnie, Sheree Kinlyside, Athena Costopoulos and Michonia Warria, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic approaches that engage broader conversations around place, materiality, abstraction and contemporary image-making. Working across drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and mixed media, each artist offers a distinctive perspective shaped by North Queensland's environments, histories and cultures.
Together, the works reveal the dynamic relationship between the natural and built worlds, from intimate observations of landscape and architecture to abstract interpretations of pattern, light and form. They celebrate the complexity and beauty of the region while encouraging audiences to pause, look closely and discover fresh ways of seeing familiar places.

About The ArtistBringing together emerging, mid-career and established contemporary artists, Natural and Built Worlds celebrates the depth and diversity of creative practice across North Queensland. Collectively, the exhibiting artists have contributed to the region's cultural landscape through national touring exhibitions, major public commissions, artist residencies, significant art prizes and works held in public and private collections. Several have also played influential roles as educators, mentors and arts leaders, supporting the next generation of practitioners. Together, Neil Binnie, Kathy Cornwall, Ron McBurnie, Sheree Kinlyside, Athena Costopoulos and Michonia Warria reflect the strength, ambition and growing national profile of contemporary art from North Queensland.
