Gerald Soworka will lead you through your life drawing experience. Gerald has organised and participated in life drawing sessions and workshops all over the world. The figure is the primary focus of his professional arts practice.

Learn how to draw from a live model in Life Drawing Townsville’s regular Saturday afternoon sessions. Your experience will be guided and facilitated by local artist Gerald Soworka. Basic drawing materials will be provided however participants are welcome to bring their own. Life Drawing sessions happen every Saturday 1- 5pm in the courtyard at Murky Waters Studio.

Workshop Details

Faces of Townsville Workshop - Gerald Soworka
$65 per person | 2hrs | 10 participants | 15+

Learn how to get an accurate and expressive likeness in this focused portraiture workshop. Extend your skills and draw different faces and heads by working from a live model. Participants will work from the model and have the opportunity to model for each other to gain experience. Artist Gerald Soworka will draw from his wealth of experience to facilitate the workshop. Basic drawing materials will be provided however participants are welcome to bring their own.

Expressive Figure Drawing Workshop - Gerald Soworka
$65 per person | 2hrs | 10 participants | 15+
2-4pm Sunday 8 August 2021
Capture the all-important gesture of the figure to make your drawings more animated and expressive. Participants will work directly from the nude model to better understand how the body moves and articulates, and how to better capture that dynamism in drawings. The workshop will be facilitated by Gerald Soworka. Basic drawing materials will be provided however participants are welcome to bring their own.

  • Venue is also close to accessible public bathroom facilities that offer wider doors, adequate floor space to move around in the bathroom, and fixtures designed for comfort including hand railings and low-effort tap handles (in Flinders Square).
  • Quiet spaces available for participants, this location will have ambient or no music playing.
  • There are nearby animal rest facilities (in Flinders Square).
  • Venues have been strategically designed for clear pathways throughout with a focus on minimising clutter.
  • If participating in workshops, interactions, or artist talks at a pop up there will be an array of seating options provided.
