Calling young artists – join Umbrella and artist Margaret Robertson to learn basic screen-printing techniques and create your own, personalised tote bag!

During the screen-printing process, a design is transferred through a mesh screen with fabric ink and the help of a stencil. While templates of different plants and animals will be provided as options, students will be guided and encouraged to design their own stencils during the workshop. With multiple ink colours to choose from, the possibilities are endless.

This workshop will be suitable for beginners, and participants will walk away with a finished, unique tote bag. Students should wear closed-in shoes and clothes that can get paint on them (however, aprons will be available). Participants may also bring drawn, printed or cut-out imagery and reference materials. All other materials will be provided.

Limited to 8 spaces (ages 13-17) | Bookings close 9.30am Sunday 11 December 2022. | Please note the workshop is subject to cancellation, if a minimum number of participants is not reached by 3pm Friday 9 December 2022. |  This workshop will take place in The Studio, downstairs at Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts, 408 Flinders St (next to Mary Who? Bookshop and opposite Woolworths). Visitors must comply with Umbrella’s entry conditions and directives. All bookings are subject to Umbrella's workshop and public programs booking policy
