I have a great interest in the phenomena of celebrity. I am at present exploring the metaphoric qualities of boxes and their effect on those in them. My primary interest is in exploring my personal reactions to contemporary social issues. This work, as with much of my work, uses images from mass media. Billybox was initially an initially an ink drawing from a photographic book cover. I then scanned and digitally processed it in an effort to produce the shiny appearance of a etching plate which I have always found visually appealing. I was born in Brisbane in 1954 and trained as a printmaker at the QCA in the late 70’s and again part-time in the late 90’s. I work as a botanical illustrator to feed my family and myself and make prints to feed my soul.
