Hand of Fatima

My work starts with sketches of a landscape or something sparked by my interest in folk religion and iconography.  I reduce the amount of information, until a few essentials leave a more or less abstract image that retains a memory of the original.  There is a creative tension between the skills of traditional techniques and the intuitive response to materials and inspiration that demand immediate expression.

    Wendy,
I've been following your work since I saw it on Saatchi a few years ago.
I like the way its going, it looks like your travel in Mexico has really been a good thing.
There's so much to get from pre-columbian art!

Some of my work is at scotsart.net
    I hope you enjoy it.

I grew up in Vermont but I've had a wonderful relationship with Mexico since I first visited in 1975, when I was 18 yrs old.
