Sunlight Dancing In The Ocean Surrounded With Shells

Taum comes from Badu Island. She grew up on Badu Island all her life. Taum is an emerging artist who has been studying visual art for the last three years. The style of artwork Taum does is contemporary cultural art work that she does on canvas with acrylic and lino prints. Taum finishes her diploma this year and wants to go on doing more workshops with youth. Taum’s future plan is to be recognised as a professional artist. Taum also wants to hold solo exhibitions in the future and in the distant future, to have a business up and running. Most of Taum’s art comes from stories that she has experienced as a child and while growing up on an islander reserve as she was able to learn her island culture through elders in the community, aunty’s and uncle’s, mum, sisters and brothers, all of these people have played a part in what knowledge she has of her culture. The artwork that Taum continues to paint and print with reflect past and present day situations and experiences. This art piece is called sunlight dancing in the ocean surrounded with shells, is about friendship and making the best of your life in the future and get to meet people of different culture.
