Son – Someone’s Son
This is one of a triptych of images that refer to the anxiety and fears of parents who have children with military aspirations in times of war. The images were produced using a selection of original photographs, and a monoprint. These were digitally manipulated with Photoshop and printed with a Canon Inkjet Printer on Epson heavyweight acid free matte photographic paper. The original photos were of my 14 year old air cadet son in camouflage uniform at the War Memorial in Anzac Square, Brisbane, during the Dawn Service; the chance image of his polished boots sitting in the target-like circle on the Ikea mat in his bedroom and a monoprint taken from a drawing of him. The initial conceptual concern from which these images evolved was based on ideas about the figure within the architecture.
