Bride Doll waiting to be incinerated

The bride doll is a type of effigy which commonly depicts a little girl dressed in an outfit that is worn by an adult woman when she marries a man and in doing so, eventually consumates the marriage.
This idea gives rise to connotations of child abuse and the sexualisation of children. In this print it is my intent to “burn the effigy”. i.e. as occurs in some religious rituals when an undesired spirit or in this case, a concept, is burned as a sign of the intent to banish the represented element.
