Robyn Elphinstone

Bush bouquet

This print recognises artist Margaret Preston’s unremitting attempts to forge a national culture through her art and writings, and pays tribute to her contribution to the history of Australian female artists. Taken from my original drawing of Australian flora, it also reflects the words of philosopher, poet and Pre-Raphaelite supporter John Ruskin – ‘Flowers seem intended as the solace for ordinary humanity’.
