Prue MacDougall

Southern Visitor

In my print you see the Kakapo visiting from the South Island of New Zealand (or is it the little person on top at the Kapao’s head). The island depicted in this print is Rangitoto island a 600 year old volcano found in the North Island city of Auckland – my home town. I can see Rangitoto island from my studio. The fern tree is a native to New Zealand called the Punga – this is where we get our “Silver Fern” from, it’s a distinctive silver colouration on the underside of the leaf.
