Washi – the Japanese technique of making plant papers with embedded objects of beauty. Layers appear translucent, partially revealing bjects, yet holding tight within the fibre. This may also be what is happening in elements of Japanese culture as it attempts to shed centuries of its customs in order to only play in a contemporary world. Where does the beauty lie??
