Lynette Weir

Flannel Flowers and Waratah

I was born in 1963 in Sydney and grew up surrounded by the Royal National Park as a ‘Backyard’. My work focuses on native Australian flora and fauna, a subject for which I have a very strong affinity. My aim through my work is to highlight Australian flora and fauna in all its beauty and diversity. Some work has been inspired by my own native/rainforest garden. Working with a National Parks and Wildlife officer, I have also created designs highlighting habitat threatened butterfly species from the North Coast of New South Wales where I currently live. My print designs use the lino and black ink to create a dramatic effect. Hand painted with watercolour it gives a subtle variation and focus on colour which enhances the designs.
