On the Surface – Rose Gum

“On the Surface-Rose Gum” draws from textures and colours found on the outer layer of tree trunks. The title makes reference to Lankester’s artistic observations as well as the botanical name of the tree. She builds upon earlier explorations of surfaces and textures to investigate symbiotic relationships and incorporates abstraction.
