Gui

In China the tortoise (gui) had divine attributes. This image of the tortoise-dragon situated in the Forbidden City in Beijing is derived from my visit to China in 2003. The bronze tortoise-dragon is a symbol of longevity, wisdom and authority. Symbolically too the use of engraving and spirit aquatints to depict this image signifies the longevity and authority of traditional printmaking yet to be continued in a digital world.
