Maker’s Mark

The Maker’s Mark is on a Matteo Gofriller cello, made in Venice in 1693. Goffriller was a Venetian luthier noted for the quality of his cellos. He lived & worked in Venice between 1685 & 1735. The Rosette is under the fingerboard of the cello. Gofriller did not necessarily mark all his instruments, thus avoiding Venetian tax.
