April Fool

For this exhibition I wanted my work to be overtly South African & chose to work with the indigenous April Fool plant. A glorious vibrant flower on a fleshy spotted stalk, it erupts from the black earth after devastation after wild fires. To me it symbolises inner strength overcoming adversity; beauty arising from destruction. Survival.
