Face Value

Several years after completing a lithography major at Queensland College of Art (Griffith University) I bought a small etching press to experiment with other printmaking processes. Collagraphs were an obvious choice for me, offering a huge range of textures and room for exploration. Additional benefits are that there are no acids to store around the home and plates can be made using simple materials. This plate was made using simple materials. This plate was made using cardboard, carborundum, acrylic gel medium and PVA glue. As with this print, my recent work has focused on the face… a mask or an indicator of who we really are?
